Who we are

WebbPaton of Royal Wootton Bassett near Swindon in Wiltshire are land agents, rural and agricultural valuers, renewable energy specialists, farm waste collectors and development land consultants who specialise in helping the rural and farming sector of landowners, farmers and tenants.  WebbPaton was established by Mark Webb and George Paton in 1999.   Today, WebbPaton acts for clients who are farmers, landowners, landlords, tenants, developers, individuals, investors, utilities, local authorities, financial institutions, banks, renewable energy projects, energy farms and equestrian enterprises throughout Wiltshire, Swindon, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire and the rest of the country.   In 2006 WebbPaton launched WebbPaton XS (renamed FarmXS in 2009) which operates a service throughout the United Kingdom collecting farm waste and plastic.

 

Mark Webb FRICS FAAV REV

MARK WEBB FRICS, FAAV, grew up on his parents’ dairy and beef farm at Cricklade and was educated at Ingleside School and Rendcomb College, Cirencester before going to the Royal Agricultural College. He spent 2 years with ADAS before returning to North Wiltshire in 1985 to work for Loveday and Loveday.   Mark deals with a range of matters including valuations, landlord and tenant issues, milk quotas, farm and land sales, agricultural planning appraisals and mortgage funding for farmers. He also runs Farm XS (South) Ltd, the firm’s diversification collecting waste plastic for recycling from farmers in southern England, and is a director of the company which owns FarmXS nationally. Mark is an AMC agent and valuer, and has sat on the RPA’s Milk Quota Experts Group since its inception in 1995. He is also heavily involved in our professional body, the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers, having served as national President in 2010 and the local branch Chairman.  In his spare time he likes to play cricket and is often seen at the Beaufort Hunt meets on foot following his wife.

 

George Paton MRICS FAAV FBIAC

GEORGE PATON MRICS, FAAV, is the son of a North Buckinghamshire arable and dairy farming family. He was educated at Great Houghton Prep School, Northampton and Wellingborough School before going to the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.   He has worked with Mark since 1992 when he joined Loveday and Loveday as Mark's assistant.   He specialises in advising Clients on the promotion and disposal of residential development land. Today, George acts for farmers, builders, and city institutions in this field. George has also built up WebbPaton’s single payment entitlement transfer department which is one of the UK’s leading traders of entitlements. Alongside this he is a land agent who deals with compulsory purchase and compensation claims, diversification projects, energy farms, farm tenancies, contract farming arrangements, farm management, the letting of business units for offices, workshops and storage, diversification to maximise income, and rural property taxation matters.   In the energy sector George has been involved with the building of 4 solar farm developments in Wiltshire which take up 130 acres of land.   In his free time George has now worked at two Olympic Games in the Media Centre and also enjoys playing and watching cricket.  He is married with two young children.

 

Cathy Hancock-Angell MRICS

CATHY HANCOCK-ANGELL BSc (Hons), PGDipSurv, MRICS, is the daughter of Lyneham-based businessman.  She was educated at Lyneham Primary School and Wootton Bassett Comprehensive School before going to University of Wales Aberystwyth where she read Agriculture and Land Management.  She then completed a course at the College of Estate Management, Reading.  Cathy spent a year milking cows locally before joining WebbPaton in 2006.  Cathy acts for farming clients specialising in environmental grant applications including Entry Level Stewardship and Higher Level Stewardship.  She carries out property valuations, tenancy arrangements, assured shorthold tenancies for houses and cottages and equestrian related work.  In her spare time she enjoys horse riding and pilates.

 

Gemma Drewett MRICS FAAV

GEMMA DREWETT (nee BUMFORD) BSc (Hons), MRICS, FAAV, grew up on an arable and sheep farm at Guiting Power (North Cotswolds) and was educated at St Edward’s School, Cheltenham before going to Reading University.  Gemma studied Land Management at Reading, before returning to the Cotswolds to work for Strutt & Parker, where she completed her training to become a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.  She then moved to the Tenant Farmers Association and worked as an Agricultural Policy Adviser, advising members on all aspects of tenancy law and agricultural policy.  Gemma moved to Wiltshire in 2010 and joined WebbPaton in April 2011 to provide maternity cover for Cathy Hancock-Angell.  Gemma carries out property valuations, advises on and prepares residential and agricultural tenancies, negotiates land compensation claims and specialises in Environmental Stewardship and agricultural tenancy law.  In her spare time she enjoys property renovation and cooking.

 

Charlotte Pearson-Wood BSc Hons

CHARLOTTE PEARSON-WOOD is our graduate surveyor.  She joined WebbPaton in September 2011 direct from the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester.  She is a graduate of the BSc (Hons ) degree in Rural Estate Management.

 

Susan Elmes

SUSAN ELMES deals with Single Payment entitlement trading, as well as being George Paton's personal assistant.  Susan has worked for WebbPaton for 13 years as well as being involved with her family's dairy farming business and pedigree Holstein 'Swallowdale' herd for many years.

 

 

Catherine Elmes BSc (Hons)

CATHERINE ELMES BSc Hons is the manager of FarmXS (South) Ltd, our farm waste and farm plastic recycling collection service. Catherine graduated from the University of West of England with a degree in Animal Science, and has worked for WebbPaton for a number of years.  She is well known in the Holstein show ring working with 'Swallowdale' and her own 'Crystal' animals.

 

Emma Lee

EMMA LEE joined WebbPaton in 2006 and is Mark Webb's personal assistant.  In her spare time Emma enjoys horse riding, which has been part of her life for 17 years.
